Description

Position Summary

The Cycle Count & Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate physical and system inventory throughout the facility. This position will perform routine cycle counts of raw materials, packaging materials, work-in-process, rework, and finished goods and work with Warehouse, Supply Chain, Production, and Quality to resolve inventory discrepancies.

The goal of this position is not simply to count inventory, but to identify why discrepancies are occurring and help prevent them from happening again.

This role will play an important part in ensuring inventory within the ERP system accurately reflects what is physically available so that purchasing, production planning, consumption, and customer commitments can be made using reliable information. This position will work 2nd shift.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily, weekly, and scheduled cycle counts throughout all warehouse and production locations.
  • Count raw materials, packaging materials, finished goods, work-in-process, rework, and other inventory as assigned.
  • Verify inventory by item number, lot number, location, quantity, and unit of measure.
  • Research inventory discrepancies before adjustments are made.
  • Work with Warehouse, Production, Supply Chain, Quality, and Inventory teams to determine the root cause of inventory variances.
  • Identify potential issues involving incorrect consumption, production reporting, inventory movements, transfers, receipts, shipments, or location errors.
  • Verify that inventory is physically located where the ERP system indicates.
  • Monitor partial pallets and open materials to ensure quantities and lot information are accurate.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate lot traceability throughout the facility.
  • Review inventory for expiration and shelf-life concerns.
  • Support FEFO (First Expired, First Out) practices by identifying older inventory that should be consumed before newer lots.
  • Identify expired, damaged, questionable, unidentified, or incorrectly labeled inventory and escalating appropriately.
  • Maintain documentation of cycle counts, recounts, discrepancies, adjustments, and root causes.
  • Track recurring inventory discrepancies and communicate trends to management.
  • Assist with month-end, year-end, and physical inventory counts as needed.
  • Support inventory accuracy at off-site storage locations when required.
  • Help improve inventory-control procedures as the company continues to grow and inventory volumes increase.
Daily Expectations

This position will have a structured cycle-count schedule but must also be able to respond to inventory issues that could impact production.

Daily activities may include:

  • Completing assigned cycle counts
  • Performing recounts on discrepancies
  • Verifying lots and locations
  • Checking partial pallets
  • Reviewing inventory approaching expiration
  • Correcting or escalating inventory-location issues
  • Documenting root causes
  • Communicating discrepancies that could impact the production schedule
  • Following up until discrepancies are resolved
Inventory Accuracy Expectations

The expectation is to help determine what caused the discrepancy and work with the appropriate team to prevent repeat issues.

Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable researching discrepancies and asking questions.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a recurring count schedule.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Warehouse, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain personnel.
  • Comfortable working in warehouse and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to physically count, inspect, and verify inventory throughout the facility.
  • Previous forklift/scissor lift experience.
