Cycle Count Supervisor

Job Purpose

Directs inventory control, cycle counting schedules, and team performance to achieve maximum stock accuracy. They identify root causes of variances, reconcile discrepancies, and enforce continuous improvement within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Detail-driven and proactive Cycle Count Supervisor to oversee inventory integrity and material flow. Manages a team of material handlers, ensures actual stock aligns with our ERP, and partners with production and warehouse teams to eliminate stock outs and production delays.

Nature Of Duties

Cycle Count Program Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain routine cycle counting schedules based on classifications, high-value, and fast-moving parts.
  • Lead the execution of physical counts and random receipt audits across raw materials, Work-in-Progress (WIP), and finished goods.
  • Reconcile physical counts with perpetual inventory records and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

Root Cause Analysis & Problem Solving

  • Conduct deep-dive investigations into inventory discrepancies (shrinkage, damage, misclassifications).
  • Perform root-cause analysis (e.g., Five Whys) to identify process breakdowns in receiving, kitting, or production issuing.
  • Implement corrective actions and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent recurring errors.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage, train, and mentor the cycle counting team.
  • Set clear performance expectations, conduct performance evaluations, and provide ongoing coaching.
  • Ensure the team adheres to safety regulations, cGMP (if applicable), and warehouse best practices.

Reporting & System Integrity

  • Utilize ERP systems (Oracle) and Microsoft Excel to pull data, track inventory accuracy metrics, and generate variance reports.
  • Monitor negative inventory balances, expired stock, and non-conforming products, processing necessary inventory adjustments.
  • Actively participate in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement teams to optimize storage and the flow of goods.

Workflow Optimization: Identify bottlenecks in the picking process and implement lean methodologies to improve speed, reduce errors, and maximize productivity.

  • Quality & Compliance: Coordinate with Quality Control (QC) for product inspection and quarantine damaged or non-conforming materials. Enforce all safety protocols (OSHA compliance) and equipment operation standards. Ensure adherence to safety regulations (such as OSHA standards), hazardous material handling if applicable, and maintain audit readiness for all shipping documents. Actively promotes company's safety rules; utilizes protective clothing (eye protection, safety shoes) and equipment; reports and actively works to correct safety and environmental hazards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Track metrics and implement Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles to reduce error rates and improve facility throughput. Troubleshoots problems and works with employees and Manufacturing to correct issues. Analyzes processes and methods and makes changes to simplify procedures and to eliminate unnecessary costs. Support quality systems, manuals, and procedures, including continual support of external certifications such as ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO14001 and or customer audits.

Education and Experience:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Administration. High School diploma or GED with equivalent experience (5+ years) is generally accepted.

Experience: 5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehousing, with at least 1 to 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.

Hard Skills: Proficiency with enterprise software (ERP) and inventory control systems. Knowledge. M ust be organized and detail-oriented

Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills under tight deadlines, excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities, and clear communication. Capability to team work with a continuous improvement culture.

Physical Demands

  • Lifting & Carrying: Frequently lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects weighing between 30 and 50 lbs unassisted; heavier items may require team-lifting.
  • Mobility: Ability to stand, walk, and move continuously across the manufacturing floor or warehouse.
  • Agility: Frequent stooping, bending, crouching, twisting, and reaching (above shoulder height and below the waist) to access materials, log files, or inspect equipment.
