Job summary

Bowhead Family of Companies is seeking a Systems Security Engineer (Cybersecurity/Quarantine Release) to join our Dahlgren, VA team. The role focuses on vulnerability scanning, DoD tool utilization (ACAS, HBSS), and hardening across systems and networks to mitigate risk.

The position requires 3–5 years of relevant experience, knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, and OS hardening, and DoD 8570 IAT II certification at hire. On-site work in Dahlgren, VA, with security clearance requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required or bachelor’s degree highly desired.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience required.
• DoD 8570 IAT II certification requirements at hire time.

Responsibilities

• Conduct vulnerability scans and identify vulnerabilities in security systems.
• Use DoD network analysis tools to identify vulnerabilities (ACAS, HBSS).
• Conduct application vulnerability assessments.
• Identify systemic security issues from vulnerability and configuration data.
• Share insights to improve risk management posture.
• Apply cybersecurity and privacy principles to confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, non-repudiation.
• Troubleshoot cyber defense infrastructure anomalies and drive resolution.
