Job summary

Society-of-Actuaries-Research-Institut in Chicago, IL seeks a Cyber Security Specialist to defend the organization from threats and monitor security posture across on-premises and cloud environments. The role includes incident response leadership, vulnerability management, and governance activities to protect data and infrastructure.

You will implement security controls, develop dashboards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in the information technology services industry, with security exposure.
• Active (or pursuing) CompTIA Security+ credential or equivalent.
• Hands-on technical expertise in security operations and administration.
• Experience in Windows-based environments and device policies.

Responsibilities

• Operate and manage core security systems including SIEM and endpoint protection.
• Monitor security across endpoints, networks, cloud, and Microsoft 365.
• Lead containment, eradication, and recovery during incidents and document findings.
• Develop dashboards, reports, and automation to improve threat detection and response.
• Lead vulnerability scans, remediation tracking, and external security assessments.
• Support security governance, risk, and compliance efforts including PCI.
