Job summary

Society of Actuaries is seeking a Cyber Security Specialist in Chicago, IL to defend systems, monitor threats, and drive incident response. The role focuses on securing endpoints, networks, cloud, and critical applications while coordinating remediation and risk reduction.

You will lead vulnerability assessments, implement security controls, and collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen the organization’s cyber posture. A BS in a related field and 5–7 years’ IT/security experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, CS, or related field required.
• 5–7 years IT services experience with at least 3 years in security roles.
• Active or pursuing CompTIA Security+ credential.
• Hands-on technical expertise in Windows-based environments.

Responsibilities

• Operate and manage core security systems including SIEM and endpoint protection.
• Maintain security logging, monitoring, and alerts across endpoints, networks, cloud, and apps.
• Investigate incidents, lead containment and recovery, document findings.
• Develop dashboards, scripts, and automation for threat detection.
• Lead vulnerability scans and remediation tracking.
• Perform required PCI scans and coordinate resolution of identified exceptions.
