Job summary

Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) is seeking a Cybersecurity Specialist 1 to join the Office of Information Security. This role participates in information security projects, aligning people, processes, and technology with our security posture.

The position reports to the ISO or Cyber Section Lead and supports multiple locations with a focus on governance and risk management. The role requires knowledge of security policies, risk assessment, and incident response, with flexible hours and travel

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Information Security or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Entry-level cyber certification or will obtain within 12 months.
• Willingness to travel to incidents across the State of Georgia and work after core business hours.
• Ability to communicate complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Assists with development and enforcement of policies and plans in compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and standards in support of IT and cybersecurity activities.
• Communicates cyber risks to management and stakeholders across the agency.
• Manages resources to support IT and security goals and reduce organizational risk.
• Advises management on technology and security policy matters and informs the ISO of critical security issues.
• Provides status reporting on security projects and cybersecurity maturity via dashboards.
• Supports audit, compliance, security awareness training, vulnerability assessment, risk assessment, and incident response.
• Assists in agency cyber incident management and tabletop exercises.
• Contributes to disaster recovery and business continuity planning activities.
• Maintains knowledge of IT and cybersecurity contracts and builds relationships with partners.
