What You'll Do

The Senior Enterprise Architect – Cybersecurity will lead the secure evolution of our enterprise IT landscape, guiding our transition from a predominantly on-premise infrastructure to a highly secure hybrid and cloud-enabled future. As a visionary technical leader, you will shape the cybersecurity architecture to enable mission resilience while mitigating the unique risks associated with cloud adoption—where one data exfiltration event could pose a national security threat.
This role is for a forward-thinking architect who understands the balance between innovation, security, and mission assurance—someone who can both envision and execute secure enterprise transformations.
- Develop secure hybrid and cloud-enabled architectures that maintain mission integrity while supporting future expansion.
- Define and execute a secure cloud adoption strategy that aligns with national security priorities and compliance frameworks.
- Architect cloud migration pathways, ensuring strong segmentation, encryption, and zero trust principles are integrated into every phase.
- Identify and mitigate new attack surfaces introduced by cloud while optimizing security for on-premise systems.
- Partner with leadership to translate business and security strategies into concrete, milestone-driven technical roadmaps.
- Design and implement federated identity, secure access controls, and data protection measures across hybrid environments.
- Ensure FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, 800-171, and Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) compliance for all cloud integrations.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, such as Confidential Computing, AI-driven security analytics, and quantum-resistant cryptography, to future-proof enterprise cybersecurity.
- Serve as a thought leader, educating teams and executives on secure digital transformation strategies that maintain operational effectiveness.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field and a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.
- OR Master’s and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- OR PhD and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Proven experience designing secure enterprise cloud architectures with national security or critical infrastructure implications.
- Expertise in cloud security models (AWS, Azure, GovCloud, and/or on-prem-to-cloud integrations).
- Ability to implement Zero Trust principles across hybrid environments.
- Deep knowledge of cloud networking, micro-segmentation, data sovereignty, and insider threat risk
- management.
- Experience balancing performance, scalability, and security while modernizing legacy systems.
- Leadership in large-scale cloud transformations within security-sensitive environments.
- Expertise in secure automation, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and cloud-native security controls.
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Security – Specialty, CCSP, CISSP, TOGAF, or GCP Professional Cloud Architect.
- Experience securing AI-driven security solutions, container security (Kubernetes, Docker), and modern DevSecOps frameworks.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
