Job summary

City of New York is seeking an IT Security Specialist to function as a Cyber Security Project Specialist within the DSS-AO/ODSM. The role focuses on planning and managing a portfolio of cybersecurity initiatives, developing charters and ROI analyses, and coordinating with city and state partners to strengthen security controls.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to projects and policies required by the particular position; or, Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and coordinate a portfolio of cybersecurity projects and IT security measures.
• Develop project charters and business cases including duration, benefits, and ROI.
• Engage high-level stakeholders across DSS-HRA-DHS program areas and partners.
• Build and maintain open communication between teams; stay current on IT and data security trends.
• Provide IT security SME input for enterprise security architecture.
• Evaluate posture and vulnerabilities of networks, hardware, systems, and mobile devices.
• Create and maintain project delivery reports with milestones, resources, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Review requirements, cost-benefit analyses, issue resolution, and closeout of projects.
• Assist Director with RFIs/RFPs and vendor submissions; ensure security requirements are addressed throughout lifecycle.
• Lead certification/accreditation of new systems prior to production release; coordinate across teams and vendors.
• Conduct follow-on security audits and risk assessments and report findings.
