Job summary

Department of Commerce is seeking a technically proficient professional to serve as a technical authority in Washington, DC. The role involves evaluating vulnerabilities and recommending mitigations across telecommunications, computer engineering, information security, and encryption technologies to support regulatory and national security determinations.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen required.
• TOP SECRET/SCI clearance required; investigations and clearances must be completed before placement.
• Engineering degree (ABET-accredited) or calculus coursework and related education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct technical studies across telecommunications, computer engineering, information security and cybersecurity to identify vulnerabilities and mitigations.
• Prepare technical analyses, agency position papers, reports, and briefing materials for interagency coordination.
• Provide information and analysis for investigative cases to interagency parties.
• Develop and revise technical portions of agency guidelines affecting industries and other government agencies.
• Represent the Office at interagency meetings and contribute to advisory activities with government and industry experts.
