Position Overview

The Illinois APEX Accelerator Center at The Turner Center for Entrepreneurship at Bradley University seeks a motivated student with cybersecurity skills to support our clients in achieving CMMC 2.0 Level 1 compliance. Under the supervision of the Illinois APEX Accelerator Director & Cybersecurity Adviser, you’ll work directly with clients to develop documentation, dashboards, and complete hands‑on assessments that guide them toward meeting NIST SP 800‑171 requirements to achieve CMMC 2.0 Level 1 certification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Director to draft and refine cybersecurity documentation, including System Security Plans (SSP) and Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M).
  • Assist in designing and building a client‑facing cybersecurity dashboard for tracking progress against CMMC 2.0 Level 1 objectives.
  • Conduct hands‑on client assessments to evaluate current cybersecurity posture.
  • Map client controls to NIST SP 800‑171 requirements and document gaps.
  • Support development of remediation roadmaps and guidance materials.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled student at Bradley University.
  • Strong technical writing skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate technical requirements into clear, client‑ready materials.
  • Comfortable working directly with clients.
  • Self‑motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with data collection and analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of dashboard and or database tools (e.g., Power BI or alternatives).
  • Experience developing templates or standard operating procedures.

Some undergraduate students (with limited family resources as determined by the results of the FAFSA) qualify for Work Study funds to help offset costs of college.
