Job summary

Viasat seeks a Cybersecurity Engineer to join a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team responsible for continuous security assessment of network systems in support of global satellite communications. You will collaborate with IA, network engineering, and SOC teams to maintain visibility of the network's security posture.

The role focuses on vulnerability scanning, RMF practices, and secure network administration, with opportunities to grow through hands-on defense and automation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Cybersecurity Engineering, Information Assurance, secure systems/network administration, or similar discipline.
• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, related engineering field or equivalent years of experience
• In-depth knowledge of vulnerability scanning applications (Tenable Nessus preferred)
• Strong understanding of common types of security vulnerabilities
• Strong understanding of IP networking and secure communication protocols
• Strong understanding of router, switch, and firewall configuration basics
• Familiarity with RMF continuous monitoring activities
• Familiarity with endpoint detection and response technologies
• Ability to travel up to 10%
• US Citizenship Required
• Active United States Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

• Administer the vulnerability scanning application, configure policies for a variety of systems, and develop automation for scanning and reporting
• Implement vulnerability scans, analyze results, and report findings to system owners and stakeholders
• Maintain documentation to track vulnerabilities and remediations, populate security packages, and present program security status
• Maintain system asset inventory, hardware and software lists, and ports, protocols, and services documentation
