Job summary

Viasat is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to join a small, fast-paced team and contribute to RMF-based continuous security monitoring of ground networks supporting global satellite communications. You will lead vulnerability scanning, analysis, and reporting while collaborating with IA, network engineering, and SOC teams to maintain maximum visibility of security posture.

The role emphasizes building automation for scanning, maintaining asset inventories, and presenting security status.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Cybersecurity Engineering, Information Assurance, secure systems/network administration, or similar discipline.
• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, related engineering field or equivalent years of experience.
• In-depth knowledge of vulnerability scanning applications (Nessus preferred).
• Strong understanding of common types of security vulnerabilities.
• Strong understanding of IP networking and secure communication protocols.
• Strong understanding of router, switch, and firewall configuration basics.
• Familiarity with RMF continuous monitoring activities.
• Familiarity with endpoint detection and response technologies.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.
• US Citizenship Required and Active United States Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Administer vulnerability scanning; configure policies for diverse systems; develop automation for scanning and reporting.
• Implement vulnerability scans, analyze results, and report findings to system owners and stakeholders.
• Maintain documentation to track vulnerabilities and remediations, populate security packages, and present program security status.
• Maintain system asset inventory, hardware and software lists, and ports, protocols, and services documentation.
