Job summary

Flywire is seeking a Security Engineer II to join our global Security Engineering team. You will own secure software design, cloud-native defense, offensive testing, and incident detection across Flywire’s fintech footprint.

This role requires an "automation-first" approach and collaboration with software engineering and SRE squads. This position emphasizes embedding security into CI/CD pipelines, IaC security scans (Terraform), and Zero Trust in containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent).
• 3+ years in Application Security, Cloud Defense, and SecOps/incident response.
• Proven deep manual penetration testing, web app exploitation, and incident containment experience.
• Strong knowledge of AWS/public cloud topologies, containers, network security, and GitLab CI pipelines.
• Proficiency in Python, Ruby on Rails, Java, or Node.js.
• Solid understanding of OWASP Top 10 for LLMs, cryptography, cloud isolation, and federated authentication.

Responsibilities

• Own secure SDLC & CI/CD automation; design/drive automated security controls in pipelines.
• Hardening of cloud infrastructure; IaC security scans and Zero Trust boundaries.
• Design/deploy automated security reviews using LLM APIs and guard AI features.
• Perform offensive testing and red team activities across financial platforms.
• Lead incident response, threat detection, and SIEM-based alert workflows.
• Collaborate with engineering teams; mentor junior engineers.
