Remote, but successful candidate MUST live within a state in which Point Broadband operates (AL, FL, GA, MD, MI, NY, OH, TN, TX, and VA).

Summary

Point Broadband is seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Engineer to help strengthen and defend our growing service provider and cloud environments. You’ll be hands-on with critical security projects, including Fortinet firewall migrations, PAM, SIEM deployments, Azure security, and endpoint protection — all while working across real networks, real risks, and real impacts.

We’re looking for someone who can work smart without needing a 400-page playbook, communicate clearly with tech and non-tech teams, and continuously level up our security posture.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Deploy and manage cybersecurity technologies across network, cloud, and endpoint environments, including:
    • Privileged Access Management (PAM) (Delinea-focused)
    • Fortinet Firewall migrations, policy hardening, and FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer integration
    • SIEM deployment, configuration, and tuning for incident detection and response
    • Endpoint Detection and Response (CrowdStrike) across IT and OT systems
  • Support security architecture for:
    • Azure cloud migrations and Azure Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) deployment
    • Cloud discovery, security assessments, and cloud native security tools (Azure Security Center, Defender)
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, threat modeling, and drive remediation activities.
  • Assist in executing and refining Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BCP) plans.
  • Contribute to incident response by analyzing Indicators of Compromise (IOCs), assisting in evidence handling (chain of custody), and executing response playbooks.
  • Perform log analysis, threat detection, and anomaly correlation within SIEM platforms.
  • Support IAM initiatives, including Active Directory, MFA deployment, and secure access control management.
  • Perform basic scripting and automation to improve security workflows (PowerShell or Python).
  • Assist in documenting risks, controls, incident response activities, and technical standards in alignment with NIST RMF practices.
  • Communicate effectively across engineering, IT, and business leadership teams on cybersecurity findings and actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information technology, or related field — or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 3+ years of practical cybersecurity experience in IT, network, or cloud security roles.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Fortinet solutions (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer)
    • SIEM platforms (log ingestion, correlation, and alerting)
    • CrowdStrike or similar endpoint protection technologies
    • Azure cloud security basics (IAM, networking, VM and storage security)
  • Strong foundational understanding of:
    • TCP/IP networking, OSI model, and secure network design principles
    • Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts, Active Directory, LDAP, MFA
    • Vulnerability management processes and interpreting scan results (e.g., ProxyLogon, Log4Shell familiarity)
    • Risk management principles (threats, vulnerabilities, risk scoring)
    • Core Incident Response (including evidence handling and chain of custody fundamentals)
    • Security frameworks (NIST CSF, NIST RMF) and basic compliance awareness
  • Scripting ability (PowerShell or Python) for task automation or data analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — must be able to create documentation, incident reports, and articulate risks to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot across systems.

Bonus Points

  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, Fortinet NSE, Azure Security Engineer (AZ-500).
  • Familiarity with OWASP Top 10 and web security basics.
  • Exposure to operational technology (OT) cybersecurity practices.
  • Threat intelligence consumption experience (understanding actor motivations, attack vectors).
  • Familiarity with additional security platforms (Zscaler, Mimecast, Delinea PAM).

Why Point Broadband?

  • Make a measurable impact securing a fast-growing ISP and cloud network.
  • Work with smart, motivated teammates who believe in solving problems, not hiding from them.
  • Get hands-on experience across Fortinet, CrowdStrike, Azure, and emerging cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Enjoy the flexibility of a remote role with high visibility and real responsibility.
  • Build security systems that matter — not just check boxes.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • Regularly required to talk, hear, and communicate effectively.
  • Required to use hands to type, handle objects and paperwork.
  • Required to reach and hold on to items at chest level or reach above the shoulder.
