Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Information Security, or related field.
  • 10+ years IT experience with 8+ years in network security and cybersecurity.
  • Hands-on experience with network authentication, NAC, security monitoring, and endpoint protection.
  • Strong knowledge of vulnerability management, risk assessment, encryption, and threat mitigation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, maintain, and improve advanced cybersecurity technologies and controls.
  • Strengthen network defenses by monitoring threats and analyzing vulnerabilities.
  • Support and enhance security monitoring platforms, endpoint protection, and SOC capabilities.

Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cybersecurity Engineer based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to protect critical technology environments and strengthen cybersecurity capabilities within an essential infrastructure organization. You will play a key role in defending enterprise systems, identifying emerging threats, and improving security resilience. The position combines hands‑on technical expertise, strategic security initiatives, and collaboration across operational teams. You will contribute to the development of advanced security programs while helping safeguard systems that support communities and daily operations. Accountabilities:

The Cybersecurity Engineer will be responsible for protecting enterprise systems, enhancing security operations, and supporting strategic cybersecurity initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Design, implement, maintain, and improve advanced cybersecurity technologies and security controls.
  • Strengthen network defenses by monitoring threats, analyzing vulnerabilities, and improving overall security posture.
  • Support and enhance security monitoring platforms, endpoint protection systems, and security operations capabilities.
  • Develop and mature Security Operations Center (SOC) processes, tools, and response capabilities.
  • Investigate and resolve complex cybersecurity challenges while continuously improving protective measures.
  • Conduct security assessments, vulnerability reviews, and risk management activities to identify and mitigate threats.
  • Support cybersecurity strategy, technology evaluations, investment planning, and long‑term security initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment with cybersecurity policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards, including critical infrastructure security requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate incident response activities, security investigations, and remediation efforts.
  • Facilitate cybersecurity awareness initiatives and promote security best practices across the organization.
  • Support security‑focused teams and initiatives, including incident response, security education, and awareness programs.
  • Research emerging cybersecurity technologies, threats, and industry trends to recommend innovative solutions.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings extensive cybersecurity experience, strong technical expertise, and the ability to independently manage complex security challenges. Required qualifications and skills include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of IT experience, including at least 8 years focused on network infrastructure and cybersecurity.
  • Hands‑on experience implementing and maintaining network authentication systems, network access control solutions, security monitoring platforms, and endpoint protection technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including vulnerability management, risk assessment, encryption, and threat mitigation.
  • Experience with network security assessments and security operations processes.
  • Knowledge of SCADA, industrial control systems, operational technology environments, or related critical infrastructure technologies is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft domain services, Office 365 security, and cloud security concepts.
  • Advanced Linux administration experience.
  • Experience working within Security Operations Centers (SOC) or similar security environments.
  • Understanding of project management and change management practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, BASH, Python, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability scanning tools, virtual environments, security monitoring platforms, and advanced hacking techniques.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex security topics clearly.
  • Ability to work independently, think creatively, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience within utility, industrial control systems (ICS), or operational technology (OT) environments.
  • Experience with network access control (NAC), network detection and response (NDR), SIEM, vulnerability management, firewalls, remote access systems, and security platforms.
  • Security certifications such as CISSP or CEH.
