Placements24 is seeking a cybersecurity engineer to join its fully remote engineering team. You will design, implement, and maintain security solutions to protect the company's infrastructure and data from evolving cyber threats.

This role demands a proactive approach to identifying vulnerabilities, developing countermeasures, and ensuring the resilience of our systems in a remote-first setting. You will identify vulnerabilities, develop countermeasures, and help shape security architecture

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in cybersecurity engineering or similar role.
• Proficient in Python/Bash scripting and Windows/Linux.
• Experience with cloud security (AWS/Azure/GCP) and common frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage security technologies (firewalls, IPS, VPNs, endpoint security).
• Develop and implement security automation for operations and incident response.
• Conduct security architecture reviews and hardening recommendations.
• Perform security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability analysis.
• Respond to incidents, perform forensics, and document remediation steps.
• Collaborate with Dev and Ops to imbue security in SDLC and deployments.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage cybersecurity technologies, including firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), VPNs, and endpoint security solutions.
• Develop and implement security automation to streamline security operations and incident response processes.
• Conduct security architecture reviews and provide recommendations for hardening systems and networks.
• Perform regular security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability analysis to identify and remediate risks.
• Respond to security incidents, conduct forensic investigations, and document findings and remediation steps.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle and infrastructure deployments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering or a similar role.
• Strong proficiency in security technologies, scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash), and operating systems (Windows, Linux).
• Experience with cloud security principles and technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Knowledge of common security frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF, CIS Controls) and threat modeling.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and strong communication abilities for a remote team.
