Job summary

Motion Industries, a leading Industrial Distribution company, offers a Cybersecurity Analyst Intern position based in Birmingham, AL. You will work hands-on with security teams throughout the summer to protect critical infrastructure and data, participating in security status meetings and helping implement solutions.

You will gain exposure to vulnerability assessments, incident response, and audit support while collaborating with IT and security professionals.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS/BA in Cybersecurity or related field.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals.
• Familiarity with security frameworks (NIST, CIS Controls, OWASP) a plus.
• Basic understanding of Linux and Windows security.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Participate in security status meetings and provide reports to Security Managers.
• Work with Security Architects to develop and implement security solutions.
• Monitor security systems and analyze security events, logs, and alerts.
• Assist in vulnerability assessments and penetration testing activities.
• Document security incidents, findings, and remediation procedures.
• Work with IT teams to deploy security controls and monitor system configurations.
• Support security compliance initiatives and audit processes.
• Investigate potential security incidents and escalate threats appropriately.
