Job summary

Motion Industries in Birmingham, AL invites motivated students to join as Cybersecurity Analyst Intern. You will support security teams with monitoring, reporting, and incident response in a hands-on summer program based in the Birmingham area.

You will gain exposure to security tools, vulnerability assessments, and collaboration with IT to implement controls while developing practical skills in a real-world industrial setting.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or related field
• Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs)
• Knowledge of security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners)
• Familiarity with security frameworks (NIST, CIS Controls, OWASP) is a plus
• Basic understandings of Linux and Windows system security
• Familiarity with common attack vectors and defensive practices
• High-level understanding of security lifecycle and incident response
• Ability to work within a team and communicate effectively
• Self-motivation and ability to work independently

Responsibilities

• Participate in security status meetings and provide reports to Security Managers
• Work with Security Architects to develop and implement security solutions
• Monitor security systems and analyze security events, logs, and alerts
• Assist in vulnerability assessments and penetration testing activities
• Document security incidents, findings, and remediation procedures
• Work with IT teams to deploy security controls and monitor system configurations
• Support security compliance initiatives and audit processes
• Investigate potential security incidents and elevate threats appropriately
