Job summary

RTL Networks, Inc. is hiring a Cyber Systems Security Engineer in Sunnyvale, CA. This full-time onsite role requires an Active Secret clearance and DoD 8570 IAWF/IAT II certification at hire.

You will work with ISSM/ISSO teams to ensure RMF compliance across programs and support cybersecurity tooling and artifact creation. The role emphasizes collaboration with CSSEs and engineers, change/asset management, and Agile/Jira planning to deliver cyber engineering tasks on time.

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance required or in scope at hire.
• DoD 8570 IAWF criteria or IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+) required at hire.
• Advanced degree or bachelor’s degree with 0–2+ years’ experience, or equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

• Ensure RMF standards compliance by coordinating with ISSM/ISSO.
• Prepare and submit RMF artifacts per SOW and ISSM delivery schedules.
• Create/update hardware/software baselines, PPSM, network diagrams and related docs.
• Apply STIGs, perform trusted downloads, maintain RMF-based compliance.
• Support program cyber tools (Qmulos, Splunk, DISA ACAS/Nessus, Trellix).
• Generate and maintain security authorization artifacts for programs.
• Collaborate with CSSEs, mission engineers and ISSM/ISSO to address findings.
• Assist change and asset management; maintain up-to-date inventories.
• Lead best-practice discussions and mentor peers across teams.
• Participate in Agile/Jira planning to scope cyber engineering tasks.

Cyber Systems Security Engineer

Status: Full-time/Onsite

Requirements

Primary Responsibilities

Essential responsibilities of the Cyber Systems Security Engineer include, but are not limited to:

• Ensuring information systems meet Risk Management Framework (RMF) standards by directly communicating with the designated Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM)/Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO).
• Preparing, maintaining and submitting RMF-artifacts in support of and in accordance with the prime contractor statement of work or as necessary to support ISSM delivery schedule(s).
• Creating and updating information system artifacts, such as hardware/software baselines, Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM), network diagrams, etc.
• Apply STIGs, perform trusted downloads, and maintain RMF-based compliance in accordance with DoW policy and/or Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) Assess and Authorization Guide (DAAG)
• Support execution of Continuous Monitoring cyber tools for the environment, e.g., Qmulos, Splunk, DISA ACAS (or Nessus), and Trellix Endpoint Security).
• Support ongoing program projects by generating, updating, and/or providing security authorization engineering artifacts.
• Work with CSSEs, mission system engineers and the ISSM/ISSO teams to prioritize cyber findings and/or advise on engineering remediations
• Change & Asset Management – support information system changes using change-management tools and keep asset inventories up to date.
• Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing – lead technical best-practice discussions, mentor peers, and coordinate with functional teams to resolve issues.
• Support and attend all Agile/Jira program planning sessions to identify scope, schedule and completion of cyber engineering tasks

Qualifications

Advanced degree and 0 years’ experience or bachelor's degree and 0-2+ years' experience or equivalent

Must meet DoD 8570 Information Assurance Workforce (IAWF) criteria or information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification at time of hire (i.e., Security+)

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.

Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time

Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

Security Clearance requirements: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for clearance at this location.

Pay Rate: The annual salary rage for this position is $95,000 -$170,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guide only. RTL Networks considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills as well as market business considerations when extending an offer.
