Job summary

Optiv Security Inc. is seeking a Governance Analyst to represent security governance within project teams, capture client requirements, and produce clear, accurate documentation meeting all requirements.

This role combines senior technical writing with governance expertise to document processes, maintain consistent methodologies, and advise across technical and non-technical stakeholders in a fully remote continental US setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience drafting governance documentation and playbooks.
  • Ability to translate cybersecurity concepts into clear docs.
  • Experience with SharePoint, Jira, Smartsheet, Forms or similar tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate AFC governance activities and document action records.
  • Gather and translate business, technical, content, access, workflow requirements into user stories and diagrams.
  • Provide administrative support for governance platforms (SharePoint, Jira, Smartsheet, Forms, Teams, Power Automate, Microsoft 365).
  • Draft, edit, format, and maintain governance standards, procedures, playbooks, and knowledge articles.
  • Support cybersecurity program knowledge and operational workflows across teams.
  • Identify process improvements and automation opportunities in governance processes.
  • Collaborate with Program Management, Engineering, Threat Management, Advisory, and Governance teams.

Job description

This position will be fully remote and can be hired anywhere in the continental U.S. The Governance Analyst is responsible for representing Cyber Security governance interests within project delivery teams, capturing individual client requirements and working with Optiv technical and client engagement teams to produce clear, accurate documentation to meet all requirements.

The Governance Analyst will have senior technical writing expertise and an eye for detail to document processes within governance frameworks. Possess the ability to maintain proper methodology for purposes of consistency and efficiency. This is an Operational Governance role working with technical and non-technical teams, requiring an ability to advise from a Governance perspective as well as create and present documentation for client stakeholders.

How you’ll make an impact
Governance Operations & Coordination Support
  • AFC governance processes, standards, operational activities, onboarding, service transitions, and readiness initiatives.
  • Coordinate governance meetings, working sessions, action items, follow-ups, dependencies, deliverables, and decision records.
  • Maintain governance calendars, task lists, initiative documentation, and assigned-action tracking to support timely completion.
Stakeholder Support & Requirements Documentation
  • Partner with stakeholders to gather business, technical, content, access, workflow, and operational requirements.
  • Document needs, current-state challenges, process steps, dependencies, decisions, outcomes, and implementation notes.
  • Translate and validate requirements into user stories, process maps, forms, workflows, templates, and platform updates.
Tool & Platform Support
  • Provide administrative, content, and user support for AFC platforms including SharePoint, Jira, Smartsheet, Forms, Teams, Power Automate, and Microsoft 365.
  • Maintain sites, lists, libraries, pages, forms, boards, trackers, templates, permissions, and team resources according to procedures.
  • Support workflow configuration, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, content cleanup, and platform adoption.
Documentation & Knowledge Management
  • Draft, edit, format, and maintain governance standards, procedures, playbooks, job aids, process maps, knowledge articles, presentations, and communications.
  • Translate cybersecurity, technical, and operational information into clear, concise, actionable documentation using approved templates and terminology.
  • Manage document libraries, metadata, ownership, review dates, version history, publication status, reviews, feedback incorporation, and final publishing.
Cybersecurity Program & Operational Support
  • Build working knowledge of managed cybersecurity programs, service delivery models, AFC terminology, security platforms, and operational workflows.
  • Apply cybersecurity context across documentation, requirements, workflows, stakeholder communications, and discussions involving threat operations or technical dependencies.
Process Improvement & Workflow Execution
  • Document current- and future-state processes, identify gaps, manual steps, duplication, standardization opportunities, and automation candidates.
  • Support development, testing, stakeholder feedback, implementation, and adoption of approved forms, workflows, templates, and process improvements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Program Management, Engineering, Threat Management, Advisory, and Governance stakeholders to support shared objectives. Promote clear communications and consistent use of governance tools, documentation, and processes across AFC teams.
What we’re looking for Key Competencies

Governance operations, stakeholder coordination, organization, attention to detail, task management, problem solving, and collaboration. Cybersecurity terminology literacy and ability to communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders. Advanced Microsoft 365 proficiency with strong technical writing, editing, formatting, and presentation-development skills.

Preferred Knowledge Areas
  • Cybersecurity operations, managed security services, SOC terminology, and service delivery models
  • Security platform operations, threat monitoring, detection, and incident workflows
  • Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Jira, Smartsheet, Forms, Teams, and Power Automate
  • Business requirements, technical documentation, knowledge management, and workflow design
Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting governance, cybersecurity, program management, knowledge management, or related business functions. Experience gathering stakeholder input and converting it into structured requirements, documentation, or platform updates. Experience supporting SharePoint, Jira, Smartsheet, Forms, or similar platforms while managing multiple assignments with limited supervision.

Success Measures

Timely completion of governance coordination, follow-ups, assigned actions, and stakeholder communications. Clear, organized documentation of requirements, decisions, workflows, repositories, forms, and operational content. Consistent collaboration with AFC stakeholders using sound cybersecurity and operational context.

Salary Range Description $82,700.00 - $110,200.00 Annual The Hiring Range provided for this role is informed by (but not limited to) various factors including responsibilities of the position, work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, geography, as well as other market influences when extending an offer. The disclosed range has not been adjusted for these factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a variable incentive-based bonus plan. Optiv offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package, of which salary is a component.
