Job summary

SharpAtoms is seeking an entry-level Cybersecurity Engineer to join our security team and protect enterprise systems, networks, cloud environments, applications, and data. This role welcomes candidates beginning their cybersecurity careers, with internships, labs, and home projects valued.

You will work with SIEM/EDR, IAM, and a range of security tools across Windows, Linux, network, and cloud environments. Certifications are a plus as you build hands-on experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field.
• 0–1 year of professional cybersecurity experience expected; internships and labs valued.
• Certifications like Security+, Network+, SC-200, AZ-500 are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze security alerts, logs, events, and potential threats using SIEM and EDR platforms.
• Assist with security incident investigation, response, remediation, and documentation.
• Support vulnerability scanning, assessment, patch validation, and remediation tracking.
• Work with security technologies including SIEM, EDR, firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint security, and vulnerability scanners.
• Assist IAM, authentication, access controls, and security policies.
• Monitor security across Windows, Linux, network, endpoint, and cloud environments.
• Analyze logs, network traffic, suspicious activities, and IoCs.
• Assist with security assessments and implementation of controls aligned with NIST/CIS/ATT&CK.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Entry-Level Cybersecurity Engineer to join our cybersecurity team and help protect enterprise systems, networks, cloud environments, applications, and data.

This opportunity is designed for candidates beginning their careers in cybersecurity. Prior full-time cybersecurity experience is not required. Relevant internships, academic projects, cybersecurity labs, CTFs, home labs, certifications, and hands‑on projects are valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze security alerts, logs, events, and potential threats using SIEM and EDR platforms.
• Assist with security incident investigation, response, remediation, and documentation.
• Support vulnerability scanning, assessment, patch validation, and remediation tracking.
• Work with security technologies including SIEM, EDR, firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint security, and vulnerability scanners.
• Assist with Identity and Access Management (IAM), authentication, access controls, and security policies.
• Monitor security across Windows, Linux, network, endpoint, and cloud environments.
• Analyze logs, network traffic, suspicious activities, and Indicators of Compromise (IoCs).
• Assist with security assessments and implementation of controls aligned with NIST, CIS, and industry security best practices.
• Maintain security documentation, procedures, incident reports, and technical findings.
• Collaborate with Cybersecurity, Cloud, Infrastructure, Networking, and Application teams.

Required Skills

• Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, threat detection, vulnerability management, and incident response.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, authentication, and encryption.
• Familiarity with SIEM/EDR technologies such as Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, CrowdStrike, or Microsoft Defender.
• Basic understanding of Windows/Linux security and networking.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP security and IAM concepts.
• Understanding of frameworks such as NIST, CIS Controls, or MITRE ATT&CK.
• Exposure to Python, PowerShell, or Bash is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
• 0–1 year of professional cybersecurity experience.
• No prior full-time professional cybersecurity experience is required.
• Academic projects, internships, CTFs, home labs, bootcamp projects, GitHub projects, and other hands‑on cybersecurity experience are valued.
• Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, SC-200, AZ-500, or equivalent are a plus.
