Job summary

Houston City College is seeking a Cyber Security Analyst who will assist in developing and enforcing IT security policies, standards, and technologies to protect information assets. You will monitor systems, support incident response, and ensure compliance with NIST, FERPA, CJIS, and HIPAA, among others.

Reporting to the Director of Cyber Security & Compliance, you will help implement security programs, perform risk assessments, and collaborate with campuses to address vulnerabilities, audit

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field required.
• 8 years directly related work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree
• 5 years’ experience with progressively increasing responsibility in related subject matter
• Hands-on experience with security engineering tools
• Higher Education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive Information Security Program.
• Support implementation and administration of strategic and operational programs within the HCC IT Cyber Security program.
• Monitor systems for security events, investigate incidents, and support incident response and remediation efforts.
• Support compliance with standards and regulations (e.g., NIST, GDPR, FERPA, CJIS, PCI DSS, HIPAA, Texas DIR).
• Coordinate security policies, procedures, standards and best practices.
• Contribute to Security Risk Assessments and perform risk assessments as needed.
