Job summary

Motorola Solutions in Chicago seeks an ambitious cybersecurity student/early-career professional to monitor, analyze, and respond to security events. You will apply endpoint detection, threat hunting, and log analysis across Windows, Linux, and cloud environments while collaborating with security teammates to improve defense postures.

The role emphasizes hands-on investigation, documentation, and continuous learning in a dynamic IT security team, with opportunities to work on advanced SIEM

Qualifications

• Endpoint Detection knowledge (Wazuh, Velociraptor, OSSEC, OSQuery, OpenEDR).
• Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP protocols; Tools: TCPDump, Wireshark, Nmap).
• Forensic knowledge (FTK, Autopsy, Volatility).
• Analytical mindset and a can-do approach to problem-solving.
• Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities.
• Knowledge of Windows, Linux, iOS, and virtual environments.
• Experience with network-based intrusion detection (IDS/IPS - SNORT or Suricata).
• Understand email protection, investigations (analyze email headers), and protocols (IMAP, SMTP, POP3).
• Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.).
• Great verbal and written skills, and a willingness to apply them to documentation.
• Hands-on experience with a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) such as Elastic Stack or Splunk.
• A strong appetite for continuous learning.
• Proactive approach and enthusiasm for problem identification and solving.
• Ability to program and write scripts (Python, Java, Go, or any other modern language).
