Job summary

Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University is offering an on-site, part-time internship in Pittsburgh starting Fall 2026 through Spring 2027. You will join the Cyber Mission Readiness Directorate and collaborate with software engineers, learning engineers, and cybersecurity experts to build hands-on training environments.

You will create and version virtual machine templates, configure virtualization platforms, and assist in moving lab content to open-source infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a degree-granting program and able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Willingness to travel to SEI/CMU locations as part of the internship.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn new technologies with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain virtual machine templates and lab topologies.
• Migrate and validate existing lab content on new virtualization infrastructure.
• Develop and test cybersecurity exercise scenarios with subject matter experts.
• Document lab environments and demonstrate them to the team.
