Job summary

Peraton is seeking an experienced CIRT Tier 2 Analyst to support the Federal Strategic Cyber Mission program in Beltsville, MD. The role requires deep incident response expertise, strong SIEM/EDR tooling experience, and the ability to work a mid-shift schedule (22:00–06:00 EST, Sun-Thu).

Responsibilities include detecting and analyzing cyber security events, performing forensic analysis, and coordinating with CISA and other CIRTs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher and 2 years of relevant experience.
• Certifications required before start date (see list).
• Experience in Incident Response lifecycle and SIEM/EDR tooling.
• Familiarity with SOAR, ticketing, and automated response systems.
• Security monitoring, threat intel, and malware analysis knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Detect, classify, and report cyber security events and incidents.
• Perform in-depth analysis of Tier 1 alerts in a 24x7x365 environment.
• Analyze logs from multiple sources to identify and remediate threats.
• Characterize network traffic to identify anomalies and threats.
• Protect against cyber security threats and vulnerabilities.
• Perform forensic analysis of hosts, traffic, and emails.
• Analyze malware to generate IOCs and mitigate threats.
• Collaborate with DoS teams to respond to events and incidents.
• Monitor and respond to SOAR platform and channels.
• Create tickets and document workflows per SOPs.
• Coordinate incident information with CISA and CIRTs.
