Job summary

Magellan Health is seeking a Military and Family Life Counselor - School Counselor (MFLC Tier 2) to provide direct counseling to DoDEA and community school children and youth, and to support families and school staff across installation sites.

Requirements include a Master’s degree in a mental health field, an independent license, and US citizenship with English fluency. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in dynamic military environments are essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a mental health field is required.
• Valid unrestricted independent counseling license from a state, DC, territory or commonwealth.
• Less than 2 years post-licensure clinical experience.
• Ability to engage and communicate with military members or children and respond quickly to emergent situations.
• Pass background checks and drug screening as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide full breadth of CYB counseling services to children and youth of military service members and families.
• Deliver non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling and health/wellness presentations.
• Consult with parents, schools, and DoD/DoDEA staff; maintain confidentiality and linkage to resources.
• Enter counselor activity data daily via smartphone or web application.
• Develop relationships with community resources and provide linkages.
• Respond to critical incidents and participate in supervision and program activities.
