Job summary

The State of South Carolina, Department of Social Services, is seeking a CWS Case Worker Assistant in Charleston County to support investigations and client services in the Child Welfare Services division.

The role requires a High School Diploma and at least one year of child welfare-related experience; an Associate degree or higher may substitute. You will help with administrative tasks, coordinate transportation, and participate in a professional team planning process.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and one year or more of child welfare relevant program experience.
• Associate Degree or higher may be substituted for all or part of the work requirements.

Responsibilities

• Remedy abuse, neglect, exploitation or self-neglect of adults or children unable to protect themselves.
• Provide administrative and casework support to Case Worker II and Case Worker III.
• Arrange transportation to resources in the community as part of social service aide plan.
• Participate as a member of a professional team to plan services for clients.
• Request educational, medical, dental, law enforcement records; conduct CLEAR searches.
• Make referrals to service providers; send referrals for family group conferencing.
• Assist with other administrative support functions to include correspondences, copy, fax, email etc.
• Perform shelter/emergency response duties when needed (FTE only).
• Ensure that personal identifying information (PII) is properly used, accessed, gathered, shared and disposed; safeguard systems, equipment and data.
