Job summary

Pennoni in Hartford, CT is seeking Fulltime and Part Time Certified Welding Inspectors to support QA fabrication inspection programs for transportation infrastructure projects. The role involves inspection of structural steel fabrication, welding, and coatings at off-site fabrication facilities supporting transportation agency projects.

You will verify shop drawings, WPS/PQRs, welder certifications, and ensure compliance with AWS D1.1/D1.5, AASHTO, and DOT specs.

Qualifications

AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) required.
0–3 years of structural steel fabrication inspection experience.
Experience in fabrication shop environments.
Knowledge of AWS D1.1/D1.5 requirements.
Strong documentation and communication skills.
Ability to travel.

Responsibilities

Perform inspection of structural steel fabrication, welding, and coatings.
Verify compliance with shop drawings, WPS/PQRs, and welder certifications.
Ensure adherence to applicable codes and standards, including AWS D1.5/D1.1, AASHTO, and DOT specifications.
Monitor fabrication processes including welding, bolting, and coating.
Witness and document NDT activities.
Identify and report non-conformances.
Prepare detailed daily reports.
Coordinate with fabricators and project teams.
Provide updates to clients and internal project teams.
