Job summary

Fickett Structural Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) actively performing welding inspections to join our Madison or Milwaukee, Wisconsin offices.

The role focuses on inspection of structural steel for buildings, bridges and related projects, with work in accordance with AWS D1.1 or D1.5 standards. Candidates must hold a CWI certificate with D1.1/D1.5 experience, have at least 1 year in-service or shop inspections, and be able to obtain ICC Special Inspections 2.1/2.2

Qualifications

• Holds a current CWI certificate with D1.1 or D1.5 work experience.
• 1+ year of experience as a CWI performing inspections.
• Familiar with scope and limitations of methods and can operate without supervision.
• Experience with structural steel welding inspections and reporting.
• Able to obtain ICC Special Inspections 2.1/2.2 within three months.
• Able to read engineering drawings, specs, and codes.
• Willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Must drive to multiple job sites as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual inspections (VT) on structural steel for construction.
• Coordinate inspections with project managers and engineers.
• Communicate findings and nonconformances to stakeholders.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports with photos and drawings.
• Maintain compliance with safety policies and codes.
• Keep equipment properly maintained and calibrated.
• Promote safety practices on site and in office.
