Job summary

General Matter is enriching uranium in America. The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) will perform visual and dimensional weld inspections to ensure quality and adherence to codes and specifications, coordinating with welding personnel, engineers, and quality professionals to maintain high workmanship standards.

The role includes interpreting welding procedures and drawings, mentoring welders, and driving process improvements.

Qualifications

• Evidence of exceptional ability (prior projects, portfolio, etc).
• Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.
• Ability to perform trade studies and make clear recommendations using first principles.
• Education: High School Diploma and professional certifications or demonstration of ability.
• 4 years of welding work experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding inspections to verify workmanship and conformance to specifications.
• Evaluate welding processes and support development/qualification of WPS/PQR docs.
• Mentor welders and support training to strengthen skills and adherence to practices.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve welding issues and implement improvements.
• Verify compliance with welding codes, standards, procedures, and customer requirements.
• Identify defects, address root causes, and drive continuous quality improvements.
