The Greater Vallejo Recreation District is seeking a part-time Recreation Leader 1 to maintain a safe, welcoming park environment for children and families at Children's Wonderland. The Greater Vallejo Recreation District is a Special Service District that has been serving area residents for over sixty years. As a Special Service District, GVRD operates as a separate government agency from the City of Vallejo. GVRD manages 407 acres of public park space including 20 neighborhood parks, 10 community parks, 6 special purpose parks, and Olympic-size swimming pool and 4 community centers. GVRD maintains over 1,000 acres of public land.
GVRD is governed by a five-member Board of Directors. With 30 plus full time and approximately 155 part-time and seasonal employees, GVRD operates on a 2026-2027 fiscal year budget of $12.9 million for general fund operations and Measure K funding amounting to $2.2 million. The Measure K funding is being utilized to purchase necessary equipment, improve parks, facilities.

To maintain a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable park environment for children and families; to lead in recreation activities; and to perform a variety of tasks in support of programming and operations at Children's Wonderland Park and Community Events.
Receives immediate supervision from higher level staff.

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
C.P.R. and First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain within six months of hire date.
Must be at least 16 years of age to apply.
Indoor and outdoor facilities; exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold, and inclement weather conditions; working with young children, teenagers, and clients with special needs.
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for occasional moderate or light lifting; bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling; walking for prolonged periods of time; standing for prolonged periods of time.
