Job summary

North River Animal Hospital in New York is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to support veterinarians, deliver compassionate patient care, and help run a smooth hospital.

The CVT will perform nursing tasks, assist in exams and surgery, collect samples, administer meds, manage records, and communicate care instructions to clients. We emphasize teamwork, professional growth, and a positive, supportive workplace.

Qualifications

• CVT certification current.
• Associate degree in Veterinary Technology required.
• Strong nursing and technical skills in a general practice.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures.
• Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, and administer medications as directed.
• Monitor anesthesia and provide surgical nursing support.
• Collect and process laboratory samples (blood, urine, fecal, cytology, etc.).
• Take and interpret radiographs in compliance with safety standards.
• Communicate clearly with clients regarding patient care, home care instructions, and preventative health.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient medical records.
• Ensure proper cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of equipment and instruments.
• Support a clean, safe, and organized hospital environment.
