Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of vocational Surgical Tech School or 3 years surgical tech experience required.
• 1 year open heart experience required.
• 6 months first scrub experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certifications required.
• Surgical Tech certification (TS-C) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs and provides instruments, sutures and other sterile supplies during surgical procedures.
• Anticipates needs for equipment and supplies for cases and communicates requirements.
• Maintains organized, sterile field and assists perioperative team intra‑operatively.
• Prepares for procedures by selecting instruments and ensuring working order of equipment.
• Upholds aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout the operative procedure.
• Participates in staff training and department preceptorship activities.
