Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited surgical assisting program.
• CSFA, CSA, or SA-C certification is required.
• 2 years in operating room as a surgical technologist or current certification.
• Experience independently harvesting leg veins preferred.

Responsibilities

• Actively demonstrates the organization’s mission and core values.
• Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety and medical information.
• Preoperative – facilitate safe positioning and assist in patient prep according to surgeon's preference.
• Intraoperative – perform tasks per surgeon preference including incision, exposure, hemostasis, tissue handling and dressing.
• Postoperative – apply dressings and assist in patient transfer to recovery.
• Specialty Procedures – perform additional duties under supervision as needed.
• Evaluates patient response to care and outcomes.
• Applies knowledge of asepsis, wound healing and safety in procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

Surgical assisting program degree

Surgical certification (CSFA/CSA/SA-C)

OR experience (2 yrs)
