Job summary

AdventHealth Orlando seeks a Surgical Technologist to support cardiovascular and thoracic procedures. You will prep rooms, assist pre-op and anesthesia, and help maintain efficient OR turnover.

Requirements include 2+ years clinical experience, BLS, and applicable professional credentials. The hospital offers comprehensive benefits from Day One and a competitive pay range.

Job Description:

Up to $10,000 Sign-on Bonus and $3,000 Relocation Assistance available to eligible candidates (see terms below)

Terms: 12-month Full-time Employment Contract Required for Sign-On and Relocation

Sign-on Eligibility:

  • One (1) year of applicable experience

  • Must live 50 miles outside of campus address

Unit Highlights:

  • AdventHealth Orlando Cardiovascular Surgery has 7 CVOR’s and one hybrid OR, and performs a full array of cardiovascular surgeries including bypass, valve replacement/repair, TAVR, heart transplant, lung transplant, multiorgan transplant, VAD insertions, impella transplant, ECMOand pediatric congenitial heart procedures.

  • The thoracic line has 3 OR’s, including one equipped with a Davinci XI robot, and performs a variety of lung esophageal, and chest procedures including HIOC (heated intraoperative chemotherapy) cases for mesothelioma.

  • We performed over 3,600 Cardiovascular and thoracic specific surgeries last year. Our Cardiovascular program is recognized as an ELSO Center of excellence for both adults and pediatrics, has a Nationally accredited TAVR program, and our heart transplant team is ranked 5th in the nation.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates all aspects of team readiness for surgical procedures, including room setup, instrumentation, equipment, and supplies.

  • Collaborates with pre-op nurses and anesthesia team to ensure patient readiness.

  • Assists team with safe and appropriate operating room turnover times and directs ancillary personnel participating in room turnover.

  • Monitors first case start and turnover times to ensure goals are met and makes rounds during the shift to ensure efficient progress of cases.

  • Works with PACU leadership to ensure space availability and maintain throughput, communicating with senior leadership if O.R. is put on hold for PACU bed availability.

  • Manages and maintains all Doctor Preference Cards for the specialty to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking, and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements [Required]

Education:

  • Technical/Vocational School [Required]

Field of Study:

  • Graduate from school of Surgical Technology, LPN program, RN program or related military training program

Work Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in the clinical setting related to area of specialty [Required]

  • 3+ years of experience in a healthcare leadership/management role [Preferred]

  • 3+ years’ experience in a healthcare leadership/management role [Preferred]

  • Experience in current performance improvement frameworks and methodologies [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) [Required] OR State Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR Technician in Surgery - Certified (NTSC) [Required]
