AdventHealth Minneola Campus is seeking a skilled Surgical Tech to support the operating room team in a day shift. The role requires ensuring aseptic technique, preparing supplies and equipment, and maintaining high standards of patient safety.

Strong communication and teamwork are essential for success. Primary responsibilities include assisting surgeons, coordinating with circulator nurses, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equiv required.
• Associate degree or technical/vocational training preferred.
• Currently enrolled or completed program in Surgical Technology.

Responsibilities

• Anticipates surgeon needs and informs circulating nurse during procedures.
• Assembles supplies, equipment and medications prior to procedures.
• Maintains aseptic technique and monitors team compliance.
• Supports satisfaction efforts and responds to complaints promptly.
• Supervises other staff and assists with orientation and training.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon and keeps the circulating nurse informed throughout a procedure.


• Maintains high standards and quality in facilitating cost savings and containment.


• Assembles all necessary supplies, equipment, and medications prior to the procedure.


• Supports customer and employee satisfaction activities; maintains good relationships with physicians, management, other departments, and staff; and responds to complaints in a timely manner.


• Monitors aseptic technique of the entire surgical team and takes immediate corrective action for any breaks in technique.


• Identifies and reports environmental concerns to management and ensures adherence to regulatory standards and policies.


• Supervises other healthcare team members in the surgical environment and assists with orientation, training, and education of new personnel.


• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking, and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements. [Required]


• Basic skills related to aseptic/sterile technique and knowledge of surgical instrumentation. [Required]


• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the healthcare industry. [Required]


• Up‑to‑date knowledge of surgical instruments and supplies to hand surgeons the correct tools during surgeries. [Required]


• Up‑to‑date knowledge of regulatory requirements and laws at various jurisdictional levels. [Required]


• Ability to understand and process surgeon dictated instructions and directions. [Required]


• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. [Required]


• Ability to consistently demonstrate clear communication skills, strong anticipatory skills, and concentration to detail. [Required]

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]


• Associate [Preferred]


• Technical/Vocational School [Preferred]

Field of Study:

• Currently enrolled or successful completion of an approved/accredited school for Surgical Technology

Work Experience:

• 2+ years of surgical tech experience in Ortho, Robotic, Urology, Vascular or spine highly preferred.


• 1+ years relevant experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]


• Surgical Technologist Certification Required

Pay Range:

$21.77 - $40.48
