Job summary

CHS Career Site is seeking a Cardiovascular Operating Room Certified Surgical First Assistant (CVOR CSFA) for a full-time role in Indiana. The Surgical Technician First Assist provides direct support to surgeons during procedures, maintains sterile field, and assists with instruments and tasks to ensure efficient operations.

Requirements include 1–3 years of CVOR experience and CST/CSFA or CSA certification with BCLS; ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of surgical technician/first assist experience in acute care required
• CST – Certified Surgical Technologist or CSFA/CSA certification required or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Functions as scrub person during procedures, maintains sterile field and supplies
• Performs first assist duties: exposure, retractors, suctioning, sponging as directed
• Handles/dissects tissues, clamps vessels, coagulates bleeding, places drains
• Assists with wound closure and dressing per surgeon instructions
• Ensures sterility, infection control, and proper counting with RN circulator
• Prepares transports instruments for decontamination and sterilization
• Assists in post-procedure room turnover and setup for next case
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Maintains regular attendance and complies with policies
