Community Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a Cardiovascular Operating Room Certified Surgical First Assistant (CVOR CSFA) to support surgeons in high‑stakes procedures in Fort Wayne, IN. Role requires CST/CSFA/CSA credentials and 1–3 years of acute care experience, with a sign‑on bonus and comprehensive benefits.

Full‑time schedule 40 hours weekly, with call/holiday/weekend rotations. The position emphasizes teamwork, patient safety, meticulous sterile technique, and rapid intraoperative response

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience as a Surgical Technician or First Assist in an acute care setting required.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a scrub person, preparing and organizing sterile supplies, maintaining the sterile field.
• Performs first assistant duties with exposure, retractors, suctioning and sponging as directed.
• Handles and dissects tissues, clamps vessels, coagulates bleeding points, and places drains.
• Assists with wound closure and dressing per surgeon instructions.
• Ensures sterility and safety, counts with RN, and follows infection control protocols.
• Prepares and transports instruments for decontamination and sterilization.
• Assists in post-procedure turnover and cleans/propares areas for next cases.
