Job summary

The Surgical Technician First Assist at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana supports surgeons during procedures by maintaining sterile fields, providing instruments, and assisting with tissue handling, suturing, and dressings. This role requires strong technical skills and teamwork in a fast-paced OR.

Full-time position, Mon-Fri 6:30am-5:00pm with call/holidays/weekends. Prior CVOR experience is required; CST/CSFA or CSA certification is preferred. Competitive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in surgical techniques and aseptic principles.
• Ability to maintain sterile field and coordinate instruments.

Responsibilities

• Functions as scrub person, organizes sterile supplies.
• Performs first assistant duties: exposure, retractors, suctioning, sponging.
• Handles and dissects tissues, clamps vessels, controls bleeding.
• Assists wound closure: suturing, staples, dressings.
• Ensures sterility, counts with RN, follows infection control.
