Job summary

Qualifications

• Certified peace officer by the POST; or equivalency if applicable.
• Minimum 24 months verifiable road experience as a POST-certified officer.

Responsibilities

• Patrol highways and roadways to enforce traffic and criminal laws relating to commercial vehicle safety.
• Perform safety inspections of commercial vehicles, drivers, and hazardous materials shipments.
• Assist in investigations of crashes involving commercial motor vehicles.
• Use portable and fixed scales to screen commercial vehicles for weight/dimension violations.
• Enforce state laws on High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) and High Occupancy Toll (HOT) Lanes where applicable.
• Provide public outreach and education to motor carriers, drivers, and the motoring public on commercial vehicle safety.
