Job summary

Standard Motor Products in Mishawaka is seeking a CV Extruder Operator for the 2nd shift (3pm–11pm). Under limited supervision, you will operate a variety of continuous vulcanization extruders to produce high quality bulk ignition wire or related product.

You will perform setups, monitor speed to meet production standards, run quality checks, document results, and report production and inventory moves accurately.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and be able to follow directions.
• Must be able to work in standing posture for extended periods.
• Must lift up to 50 lb repetitively and perform stooping, bending, reaching, pulling.
• Must be able to manipulate reels of wire and materials.
• Must be able to work with factory PC with video display and touch screen controls.
• Must be analytical, mechanically inclined, organized and detailed oriented.
• Must be able to view and determine quality of print on moving wire.
• Must be able to work with raw materials and chemicals present in workplace environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate extrusion machinery to meet production standards.
• Set up machines per work orders.
• Maintain uptime at a minimum of 75% of monthly schedule.
• Perform quality checks, such as OD and wall thickness, and record results.
• Adjust equipment based on quality checks as indicated by gauges and PC screen.
• Complete labor, inventory and quality reporting accurately and timely.
• Maintain equipment by performing minor repairs/adjustments as required.
• Report production and inventory moves accurately.
