Job summary

WestRock Company is seeking a Manufacturing Team Lead to ensure day-to-day operations of the department, relieve the Department Manager, and uphold 5S and core values. You will support initiatives and ensure housekeeping meets management standards, with duties assigned by the Team Lead.

The role emphasizes safety, equipment awareness, and collaboration with managers, customer service, accounting, and production staff to maintain procedures and drive Performance Excellence.

Qualifications

• Ability to read basic measurement devices (calculator, tape measure, ruler).
• Ability to operate lift trucks and pallet jacks.
• General mechanical aptitude and safety awareness.
• Proficiency with basic computer software (Excel, Word, AS400).
• Ability to follow detailed training and quality instructions.
• Strong communication with managers and teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and adjust crewing machines according to demands and departmental goals.
• Monitor labor usage.
• Support department manager and relay employee concerns, maintaining culture.
• Ensure safety issues are addressed and reported.
• Assist with procedures and processes supporting Performance Excellence.
• Track OEE and identify roadblocks, working with operators.
• Assist with employee reviews and development follow-through.

Job description

The Opportunity

Responsible for ensuring day-to-day functions of department are carried out. Support plant initiatives and directives. Relieve Department Manager. Maintain housekeeping and 5S to standards set by management. Follow all Smurfit Westrock Core Values and Behaviors. Additional job duties as assigned by department Team Lead.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and adjust crewing machines according to demands and departmental goals.
• Monitor labor usage.
• Be conscious of employee needs and assist them with any issues/concerns, monitoring the culture and reporting to the department manager both good and bad.
• Be conscious of all safety issues and concerns.
• Work with the department manager to help maintain procedures and processes supporting Performance Excellence.
• Work with department manager on internal advisories and corrective actions within the complaint database.
• Direct and evaluate department personnel
• Talks about OEE improvement daily with all operators and tracks goals and wins. Should be able to readily identify OEE roadblocks and actively pursue their removal.
• Assist department manager is setting employee expectations and tracks development. Assist department manager with timely follow through on employee reviews and increase

What You Need to Succeed

• Ability to use and read basic measurement devices, (calculator, tape measure, and ruler.)
• Ability to operate lift truck. Ability to operate pallet jack.
• General mechanical aptitude.
• Pass Farnsworth Munsel-100 Hue Test. Ability to operate, copier, and fax.
• Good computer skills (Excel, Word, Schedule Assistant, AS400)
• Able to follow detailed instructions for training and quality. Communicate with managers, customer service, accounting, production employees
