Job summary

Graphic Packaging International in Newton, IA, is seeking a Die Cutting Operator to support the Die Cutting Manager and drive KPI improvements through efficient production and strong safety practices.

You will make-ready and run die-cut jobs, inspect dies, adjust for quality, communicate across shifts, and maintain equipment while recording metrics in SAP. The role requires color discrimination, mechanical aptitude, and overtime flexibility.

Qualifications

  • Experience in folding carton or similar manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions and specs.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with attention to safety policies.

Responsibilities

  • Support safety policies and perform duties per procedures.
  • Make-ready, adjust, and run jobs to meet production standards.
  • Review job orders for quantity, stock specs, and die cutting instructions.
  • Inspect dies for defects and apply minor repairs as needed.
  • Adjust for quality and communicate information between shifts.
  • Maintain and clean die cutter; perform basic maintenance.
  • Record production metrics in SAP and other systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Details

The Die Cutting Operator supports the Die Cutting Manager in providing support, direction, and training to achieve KPI improvements through driving operational performance. Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrate commitment to safety and perform job duties in accordance with our policies and procedures
  • Make-ready, adjust, and run jobs as efficiently as possible to meet safety and producivity standards
  • Examine job order to determine quantity to be cut, stock specifications, and special die cutting instructions
  • Examine cutting dies for visual defects and apply correcting solution to repair minor defects
  • Make necessary adjustments to ensure quality
  • Ensure information is communicated between shifts
  • Perform proper and required maintenance as well as cleaning of Die Cutter
  • Maintenance duties include stooping under machinery, entering confined spaces and climbing ladders
  • Accurately record production metrics through SAP
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude/skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to understand technical written and verbal instructions
  • Strong computer and math skills required
  • Ability to accurately distinguish color variation
  • Must be able to work other shifts and overtime as necessary

Required Experience:

  • Prior folding carton experience preferred

Physical Demands:

  • Occasional bending, reaching, twisting and stooping
  • Ability to read computer screens and other electronic devices
  • Occasional squatting and kneeling for cleaning and clearing jams
  • Pushing/pulling/lifting to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to distinguish color

PAY RANGE: $25.61 - $37.96

Safe Quality Food Responsibilities:

Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Employees must continually work to promote orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5S and other company standards.
