Job summary

Expeditors International is seeking a Customs Broker specialist to advance our brokerage product through operations, finance, sales, people, systems, and culture in alignment with company policies.

You will ensure proper classification for all shipments, monitor duty deferment, licenses, and new business transitions, while maintaining strong client relationships and supporting compliance training and process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate classification instructions for all shipments for all customers.
  • Monitor duty deferment usage and levels.
  • Monitor license/visa applications.
  • Ensure all new business is transitioned correctly.
  • Conduct regular client interactions to support retention and sales.
  • Maintain positive relationships with Trade Compliance Manager and support compliance trainings.
  • Promote productivity tools and systems usage.
  • Audit files according to AEO requirements.
  • Coordinate refunds with customs authorities.
  • Manage customs system operations and data reporting.
  • Provide client reports and respond to data requests.
  • Be open to implementing system changes and enhancements.
  • Support staff appraisals and goal setting.

Job Description

To further develop the Customs brokerage product in the marketplace through focus on Operations, Finances, Sales, People, Systems, and Culture in adherence to the company’s policy and procedures.

Tasks and Duties

Ensure all classification instructions for all shipments for all customers.

Monitor duty deferment usage and levels.

Monitor license/visa applications.

Ensure all new business is transitioned correctly.

Make 2 F2F calls per week – Retention/Sales

Maintain a positive relationship with the Trade Compliance Manager and support all compliance efforts and trainings.

Promote productivity tools (e.g., using edoc, process management, customsware usage/Expo customs.

Audit of files in accordance to AEO

Follow up refunds with customs authorities.

Management of customs system

Send client report requests through the available database (expo request, expo reporting)

Provide content for customer reviews – duty/vat,

Be open to implementing new system changes and enhancements into your department.

Review and conduct staff appraisals and one to one meeting timely in line with the 3+1 Initiative

Assist supervisor and key staff with goal setting and monitoring development.
