Expeditors is seeking a Customs Compliance Clerk in the United States to ensure proper and timely movement and clearance of freight within the Customs Brokerage department. You will handle data entry, decipher DLSOPs, and liaise with authorities to meet client expectations.

The role requires 6 months to 1 year of related experience, knowledge of customs processes, incoterms, and strong interpersonal skills to service exporters and importers effectively.

Qualifications

• 1 year or less related experience or training.
• Strong knowledge of customs brokerage processes and systems.
• Solid knowledge of customs legislation, especially classification, valuation and origin.
• Understanding of ocean and air documentation process.
• Knowledge of air, road and ocean transport.
• Familiar with incoterms.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; proactive and organized.

Responsabilités

• Ensure smooth and timely customs process flow.
• Ensure accurate and timely client billing.
• Interpret the DLSOP for import/export to meet client needs.
• Enter data accurately into the operating system.
• Transcribe declaration details to build valid customs entries.
• Verify and submit declarations to customs authorities.
• Track and trace Customs files.
• Interact with customs to resolve issues.
• Attend inspections or present documents on request.
• Act as liaison between authorities and customers.
• Ensure timely customs clearance for imports/exports.
• Verify documents for compliance and accuracy.
• Coordinate with customers to arrange international shipments.
• Maintain strong relationships with customs officers.
• Ensure compliance with OPS and external regulations.
• Stay updated on regulatory requirements for imports/exports.
• Meet KPI standards per company procedures.
• Overseas communications; timely email responses.
