Job summary

Hire Velocity is seeking a Semiconductor Equipment Field Service Technician to install, maintain and repair probing systems at customer sites. You will troubleshoot complex electromechanical equipment, document issues, and coordinate with engineering for improvements.

The role requires travel to customer locations, strong communication skills, and experience with semiconductor test equipment. Full-time, non-exempt position in Fremont, CA with travel expectations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification with two years in probers or similar equipment.
• Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering preferred but not required.
• Experience installing, maintaining, or repairing electromechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain probing systems and peripheral equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs at customer sites.
• Connect interfaces between probers, manipulators, testers, and networks.
• Diagnose problems and determine solutions for field equipment.
• Communicate status and progress to customers during service visits.
• Document issues via reports, bug/ enhancement requests.
• Prepare detailed field service reports on schedule.
• Coordinate with application engineering on customer requirements.
• Develop technical documentation for new products and procedures.
• Support sales via demonstrations and trade shows as needed.
• Manage multiple projects, schedules, and priorities; travel as required.

Semiconductor Equipment Field Service Technician

Pay: $32.00 per hour

About the Opportunity

We are hiring a Semiconductor Equipment Field Service Technician to provide installation, maintenance, repair, and technical support for semiconductor prober systems and related equipment.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing position for someone who enjoys troubleshooting complex electromechanical equipment, working directly with customers, and supporting equipment used in semiconductor testing and manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain semiconductor probing systems and related peripheral equipment
• Complete preventive maintenance and basic equipment repairs at customer locations
• Install electrical, mechanical, and communication interfaces between probers, manipulators, testers, and network systems
• Diagnose equipment problems and determine the appropriate resolution
• Communicate with customers regarding installation progress, maintenance, repairs, and equipment status
• Document unresolved technical issues through enhancement requests, bug reports, and other established reporting processes
• Complete detailed field service reports accurately and on time
• Coordinate customer application requirements with the application engineering team
• Learn how customers use equipment for device development and manufacturing testing
• Identify potential equipment improvements and future enhancement opportunities
• Develop clear technical documentation for new products, procedures, and technical discoveries
• Support sales and marketing efforts by providing technical expertise, conducting product demonstrations, and attending trade shows as needed
• Manage multiple customer projects, schedules, issues, and priorities simultaneously
• Travel to customer locations and training sites as required
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Associate degree, technical school degree, or relevant technical certification with at least two years of experience supporting semiconductor probers, test equipment, or similar complex machinery
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering is preferred but not required
• Experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, or repairing electromechanical equipment
• Semiconductor, prober, wafer-testing, or automated test equipment experience is highly preferred
• Strong mechanical, electrical, mathematical, and analytical skills
• Ability to interpret technical instructions, diagrams, schematics, and equipment documentation
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot equipment at customer sites
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to customers and internal teams
• Technical writing and project coordination experience are preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Prober or semiconductor test-equipment training certifications are a plus
• Must be willing and able to travel as required

Physical and Work Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance
• Ability to push, pull, or move machinery and equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Comfortable working in customer manufacturing, production, and plant environments

Compensation

This full-time position pays $32.00 per hour. Additional information regarding benefits, travel requirements, and scheduling will be discussed during the interview process.
