Job description

Position Overview

Logistics, Transportation & Parking (LTP) seeks a motivated, collaborative, customer-focused professional to lead parking attendants and ambassadors, manage challenging customer issues, and oversee operations within Parking Attendant Services. Ideal candidates will be dependable, detail-oriented, excellent communicators (oral and written), and capable of working independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. A high standard of conduct, dedication to customer service, and interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse clientele are essential.

The position reports to the Parking Attendant Services Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Supervise Parking Attendants, Ambassadors, and Customer Service Representatives at multiple campus locations.
  2. Manage staffing levels according to schedules and adjust as needed.
  3. Evaluate staff performance to ensure policy compliance.
  4. Handle disciplinary actions in accordance with union agreements and policies.
  5. Participate in hiring and training activities.
  6. Manage cash funds, create deposits, and oversee revenue control equipment.
  7. Collaborate with management to review and improve operations.
  8. Interpret policies for staff and customers.
  9. Address customer inquiries and resolve issues.
  10. Maintain communication and vehicle counting systems through inspections.
  11. Cover shifts as needed, work independently, and lead a diverse team.
  12. Perform duties in both office and field settings, including outdoor work in various weather conditions.
  13. Assist with parking ambassadors as needed.
  14. Handle administrative tasks such as data entry and billing.
  15. Transport items weighing up to 30 pounds.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in cash handling.
  • At least two years in customer service or related fields.
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft/Google programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Supervisory experience or leadership training.
  • Relevant parking or transportation experience.
  • Knowledge of University of Michigan services and policies.
  • Experience with revenue and access control technology.
Additional Information

This is a full-time position working 40 hours weekly, primarily Monday through Friday, with shifts typically from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Flexibility for after-hours work and responding to emergencies is required. The role involves both office and outdoor work, including in all weather conditions. Background checks will be conducted following a contingent offer.
