Job summary

The City of Fort Worth Public Library is hiring full-time Customer Service Representative I to deliver excellent customer service at East Berry, Ella Mae Shamblee, Golden Triangle, Northwest, Southwest Regional and Summerglen Library locations.

The role requires friendly, organized individuals able to serve diverse community members, with duties including checking materials in/out, issuing cards, handling cash transactions, and assisting with programs and outreach.

Qualifications

High school diploma/GED.
No previous experience required.
Must pass physical.
Ability to communicate in Spanish (preferred).
Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends (preferred).
Ability to travel to multiple library locations (preferred).

Responsibilities

Provide friendly, efficient, and professional customer service at library locations.
Check library materials in and out; issue library cards.
Conduct customer payment transactions and operate a cash register.
Answer questions about library policies, procedures, and accounts.
Address basic reference, reader’s advisory, and general usage questions.
Assist with library programs and outreach as needed.

Job description

Pay Range: $18.00 - $21.76/hr.

The Fort Worth Public Library is hiring a full-time Customer Service Representative I to provide great customer service at the East Berry, Ella Mae Shamblee, Golden Triangle, Northwest, Southwest Regional and Summerglen Library.

The ideal candidate for this position is friendly, helpful, extremely organized, enthusiastic about bringing library services to all members of the community, and comfortable working with diverse populations including people of all ages, backgrounds, dispositions, and abilities.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED
No previous experience required
Must pass physical

Preferred Qualifications

At least two (2) years of customer service experience
Ability to communicate with customers in Spanish
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends
Ability to work at/travel to various locations

The Customer Service Representative’s Job Responsibilities Include

Providing friendly, efficient, and professional service to customers
Checking library materials in and out; Issuing library cards
Conducting customer payment transactions and operating a cash register
Answering customer questions about library policies, procedures and accounts
Answering basic reference, reader’s advisory and general usage questions
Assist with library programs and outreach as needed

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
