Job summary

Expeditors is seeking a Customer Service Representative with brokerage experience for our Torrance, CA location. This full-time role offers 7:30 AM–4:30 PM hours, and a compensation range of $24–$28 per hour. You will support timely customs processing and customer service within the Brokerage Department.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years brokerage experience, a High School Diploma, and must be legally eligible to work in the United States. Background checks are required and overtime may be needed.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years Brokerage experience required.
• Understanding of transportation and US Customs documentation.
• High School Degree or equivalent required.
• Successful candidates must pass a background check.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must not require future sponsorship for employment visa.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
• Must have the ability to work overtime in support of the department’s needs.
• Must be able to commute to the city of Torrance, CA.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely and accurate operations while providing exceptional customer service within the Brokerage Department.
• Daily execution of workflow and department metrics.
• Transfer declaration information from commercial documents, or other sources into our customs entry system.
• Accurate and timely data entry to allow for the build of a complete US Customs declaration.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with the customers and government organizations.
• Ensure compliance to regulations at all times, both internal and external.
• Track and Trace shipments for valid data transmission to US customs and Partner Government Agencies.
• Identify and manage exceptions while also identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Effectively manage and organize emails for timely follow up.

Position Schedule

Monday – Friday 7:30AM – 4:30 PM

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• A Brokerage CSR will be expected to ensure timely and accurate operations while providing exceptional customer service within the Brokerage Department.
• 3 to 5 years of Brokerage experience required
• Ensure a smooth and timely customs process flow for all customs related activities
• Daily execution of workflow and department metrics
• Transfer declaration information from commercial documents, or other sources into our customs entry system
• Accurate and timely data entry to allow for the build of a complete US Customs declaration
• Build and maintain strong relationships with the customers and government organizations
• Ensure compliance to regulations at all times, both internal and external
• Track and Trace shipments for valid data transmission to US customs and Partner Government Agencies
• Understand customer expectation to ensure all the elements of the SOP and KPI’s are met
• Identify and manage exceptions while also identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
• Effectively manage and organize emails for timely follow up

Minimum Qualifications

• 3-5 years of Brokerage experience required
• Understanding of transportation and US Customs documentation
• High School Degree or equivalent required
• Successful candidates must pass a background check

• Comfortable with numbers and basic mathematical skills

Desired Qualifications

• Customer Service: 6 months to 1 year experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred but not required. We hire for attitude and train for skill.
