Job Overview
Mechanics Bank is currently searching for a Customer Service Representative to join our team. This role will be working on‑site and under general supervision, performing basic to moderately complex banking transactions. The position requires a high level of service by accurately processing transactions, resolving inquiries, and maintaining account information.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine teller transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, payments, transfers, and mail or night drop transactions.
- Process basic to more complex customer transactions according to established procedures and security guidelines.
- Assist customers with account reconcilement, copies of statements and checks, orders, closures, address changes, stop payments, debit card maintenance, and safe deposit box entrances.
- Provide exemplary customer service both in person and over the phone, responding accurately and promptly to inquiries.
- Identify additional customer needs and make product and service recommendations, providing information on rates, charges, fees, and restrictions.
- Educate customers on banking technology, such as mobile and online banking.
- Maintain and balance a cash supply for transactions, adhering to all cash handling policies and balancing cash at shift end.
- Review customer transactions for red flags and fraudulent items, maintaining awareness of criminal scams.
- Refer customers to Branch Management and proper departments for unresolved issues.
- Assist with branch opening, closing, and security procedures as needed.
- Gather data and process various reports and forms for compliance (e.g., Currency Transaction Reports, RegCC, holds, overdraft).
- Assist with branch audit functions and complete required compliance by assigned due dates.
Qualifications
- High School Degree or GED required; additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a banking environment with basic knowledge of bank deposit products and services.
- 1 year in customer service and cash handling experience in a customer‑facing role required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and customer service orientation.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively as a team member.
- Ability to make decisions using available information.
- Basic knowledge of bank deposit products and services, and ability to understand customer loan requests and make appropriate referrals.
- Knowledge of applicable bank policies and procedures.

Pay Range
$20.00‑25.00 per hour, eligible for Retail Incentive Plan.
